The Agony of Ecstasy

The Agony of Ecstasy

Julian’s life was fairly normal up to his mid-teens. A keen swimmer and runner with many medals and trophies to his credit. However, he gave in to his curiosity and tried a bit of hash... that was the beginning. Before the end of that year he became involved with the dreaded drug-culture. Acid, LSD, Speed and eventually the wonder drug, the love drug, the designer drug called Ecstasy. His behaviour changed, his appearance changed, his attitude changed. His only friends were those who were also involved in drugs. As his life revolved around the rave scene and Ecstasy, his father anxiously watched his rapid decline. Something had to be done, but what? The habit couldn’t be financed by his job, so he did some small deals among friends. Suddenly he was caught between deals. This time his father reached out for help, and tried to expose the whole rotten game...

Our class about 5 years ago was encouraged to pick up the book and read it and it was amazing. It opened my eyes to what drugs can do to you, and have recently found myself reflecting on the book and I am planning on picking it up for a re-read.
