It’s January, and they’re in the middle of nowhere. Two women are taking time out in a Connemara health spa for a little bit of self-indulgence and a brief respite from everyday pressures. They seem to have little in common. ‘Town Mouse’ Alison Harding is a high-flying career woman from London – independent, successful, single, lonely. She hasn’t got much time for anyone else. ‘Country Mouse’ Sophie Hanrahan’s life revolves around her husband Liam, her pre-school kids, the parish priest, and anyone else who needs her. She has no time for herself. The two women strike up an unlikely friendship – a relationship that leads them to review their lives. Sophie recognises her marriage is under strain, and she’s fed up with everyone taking her for granted. Something will have to give, but will it be her? Alison’s reflections take her into the past. She will have to open some long-closed doors to help her face up to what lies ahead.
