Marian Keyes

Dubliner Anna is the fourth of five Walsh sisters and seems to have it all - gorgeous husband Aidan, an apartment in Manhattan and The Best Job In The World. So it’s not surprising she doesn’t want to stay for long in her parents Good Front Room in Blackrock, where there’s nothing to do but watch the antics of her sister Helen who spends most of her time hiding in bushes with binoculars trying to catch errant spouses 'at it'. Anna doesn't wait too long before heading back to her life in New York - her ridiculous mandatory work wardrobe and gut-clenching Monday Morning Meetings, the city of eight-minute speed dating, the Labrodoodle and Feathery Strokers. Back in Manhattan, Aidan seems to have vanished. But Anna sees him everywhere, walking down the street and passing by in a bus, so why won't he return her calls or emails? Hold onto your handbags for the amazing new Marian Keyes.

Who but the undisputed superstar of Irish fiction Marian Keyes could comment so aptly on the glamorous destination of the heroine in her latest novel Angels. Los Angeles, city of Angels, home of the super-thin and extreme where Marian fans will just howl at her descriptions of life in the fast lane, where even the palm trees are skinny.

Author Interview

Watermelonmkeyes5 €9.99 €9.99
Watermelon James has absconded, leaving Claire with a new-born baby, a broken heart, heavier by nearly 30 pounds. In the absence of any better offer, Claire goes home to her family. To her beautiful sister Helen, her soap-watching mother, her bewildered father. And in a story that's both hilarious and bittersweet, Claire gets better. In fact so much better that when James reappears into her life he's in for a bit of a surprise.
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Marriedmkeyes4 €9.99 €9.99
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married Lucy doesn't even have a boyfriend. But Mrs. Nolan has read her tarot cards and predicted that Lucy will be walking up the aisle before the leaves have fallen on the ground again. Lucy's friends Karen and Charlotte are appalled at the news. If Lucy leaves it could disrupt their lifestyles eating take-outs, drinking too much wine, bringing men home and never vacuuming. Lucy reassures them that she's far too busy arguing with her mother and taking care of her irresponsible father to get married. But then Lucy meets Gus, gorgeous and unreliable.
Rachel's Holidaymkeyes3 €9.99 €9.99
Rachel's Holiday They said I was a drug addict. But I was a middle-class, convent-educated girl. And surely drug addicts were thinner? Life is good for Rachel Walsh. She has regular congress with Luke Costello, a man who wears his leather trousers tight and she’s fond - some might say too fond - of recreational drugs. When she finds herself being frogmarched to Dublin’s answer to the Betty Ford Clinic, she’s outraged. But on the plus side, it’s bound to be full of celebrities in search of their inner child. Heartsick and Luke-sick, Rachel is airlifted from addiction to the unfamiliar terrain of adulthood, via a love story or two, in a novel by turns poignant, powerful and very, very funny. Book Review
Last Chance Saloonmkeyes2 €9.99 €9.99
Last Chance Saloon Take three very different people . . .

Katherine, a sleek millennium woman with a powder-blue Karmann Ghia and a past buried like nuclear waste. She hasn't cried since 1988, she simply hasn't had time.

Fintan, who has the biggest Clinique collection in Notting Hill – he could open his bathroom to the public. He's in love with Sandro, the Italian pony – at five foot four, too short to be a stallion.

Tara, with a PhD in bad choices. Clothes, cars, men. Especially men. The current one carries his change in a little old ladies' purse. But when you're in the Last Chance Saloon you take what you get.

Sushi for Beginnersmkeyes1 €9.99 €9.99
Sushi for Beginners What a difference a year makes . . .

London magazine editor, Lisa Edwards, shiny and hard as an M&M, thinks her life has ended. Her 'fabulous' new job turns out to be deportation to Dublin, launching 'Colleen' magazine. If it weren't for the decorative presence of her new boss she might just turn on her Prada heel and take the first plane back.

And Ashling Kennedy, 'Colleen's' assistant editor, has her own problems. There's a homeless boy asleep in her doorway, her life is overrun with stand-up comedians and she can't stop buying handbags. The person she envies most in the world is her oldest friend Clodagh, and for very good reason.

Known as the princess, life has always delivered what Clodagh Kelly wants - and why not when you are traffic-stopping beautiful. She's living with her prince in a maple-floored castle. So why, lately, has she had the urge to kiss a frog? Sleep with a frog, if the truth be told.

Anybody Out There?

If you only read one Marian Keyes' novel, make sure it's this one. I roared laughing on one page and put my head down to weep on the next. Anna and her "madder-than-most" family touched me to the core and stayed with me long after I'd turned the last page.
