A football star is coming to Ballygandon! Mickey Mascarpone is recovering from an injury and wants to lie low and avoid the tabloid press. He stays in Molly’s house and becomes a friend of the Ballygandon Gang, helping to coach them for the big match with the junior league team, the Ballygandon Giants. There is even more excitement when an ancient map is discovered which shows that treasure may be buried near Molly’s own house. Not only the Gang but the local villains are on the trail of it, and midnight vigils and fake hauntings are staged to foil them. The Gang also use their sleuthing skills to expose an illegal dumping operation at the local quarry, but what they find out leads them into great danger. Will they be in time to outwit the culprits, as well as unearthing the treasure and helping the Giants to win the Cup?

A football star is coming to Ballygandon! Mickey Marscapone, a famous player for an English team, is recovering from an accident and wants a spell of rest, away from the limelight. His father is Italian, his mother Irish, and his grandmother came originally from Ballygandon. He rents a room in his grandmother’s old house, now the home and shop of Molly’s parents.

Brendan, Molly and Dessy are very excited – maybe Mickey will coach them, and even help with their cherished plan of forming a Ballygandon team. Mickey becomes a friend, and tells them how his grandmother always loved the house and talked about it as her “treasure”. By chance, Locky and a historian friend at Horseshoe House where he lives have been researching Old Ballygandon, and think there might be real treasure hidden in the area of the house.

Brendan is showing off his new digital camera to his cousin Molly and their friend Dessy, when suddenly through a cabin window he sees a strange sight. The boat’s captain is secretly passing a wad of banknotes to a politician who has helped to build the boat - government money. CLICK! Brendan’s camera has caught the scene.

It is a picture that leads to hair-raising adventures, as the captain’s henchmen pursue the Ballygandon Gang to try and snatch the camera. Through hiding-places on boats, in caves and in a haunted castle the chase goes on.
